and once again it is December... The eagerly awaited Holidays are ahead of us...
The first December holiday... we all wait for it... especially children... the Christmas tree... St. Nicholas /the Christmas Star... Christmas Eve... Christmas Eve is the name preceding the holidays... to us, it is associated with a shared dinner, the wafer and wishes, hay under the tablecloth... a Christmas tree and presents beneath it... We share the wafer, which came to us in the 15th century; wafers intended for people were white, while those for animals were colorful. There is a belief that on this Christmas Eve night, animals speak with human voices.
Christmas Eve supper is the introduction to the Holidays, and perhaps not everyone knows that during the first 300 years of Christianity, people did not even know the date of Christ’s birth. Why, then, do we celebrate it on December 25? On that very day, the ancient Romans celebrated the festival of the Persian sun god. Since Christians who identified Christ with the sun also took part in it, the Doctors of the Church adopted this day for the celebration of Christmas.
The custom of decorating the Christmas tree originated in Germany in the 15th century and came to us in the 18th/19th century....
We wish Everyone many presents under the Christmas tree, good health, and a peaceful, family Christmas.
