Despite the increasing publicizing, information, publications and campaigns such as "clean up the Earth," knowledge about environmental protection still seems too limited. Before and during the holiday season, there will be an opportunity to take a look at the ecology around us. Here are a few basic observations made by an ordinary walker strolling through the town or cycling around it:
-In many wooded areas around the town, rubbish dumps can be found along the paths (rubble, waste, glass, etc.). It looks as though, after completing construction and cleaning up the site, builders of single-family homes load all the rubbish onto a trailer and take it "wherever";
-Around forest car parks, a characteristic sight is piles of cans from drinks, motor oils, canned goods, etc., as well as plastic packaging, paper, glass bottles, etc.
-Illegal rubbish dumps outside the fences of allotment gardens (e.g. "Zielone Oczko" and others);
-Pollution of nearby gravel pits and small bodies of water; old tyres, plastic bags, packaging and other items can be found in them. One can only wonder that this does not deter anglers fishing in these places...
A disturbing phenomenon is the observed felling of trees (theft!) in the forests around Bolesławiec. In the area of Piastów and Jeleniogórska Streets, one can find freshly cut stumps of birches, acacias and even oaks.
Bolesławiec is a green town, and the Lower Silesian Forests lie around it; this is probably our greatest wealth! We appeal to young people and adults: report every case of destruction of nature, we will publish them, and perhaps we will manage to find the perpetrators? Let us care for nature...
