On 29 May 1996, pupils from primary schools in our municipality met at the sports field next to the Primary School in Dąbrowa to take part in games and competitions organised by GOKiS for Children’s Day, as well as sports competitions organised by the administration and teachers of the Primary School in Dąbrowa to mark Sports Day.
The day began with a ceremonial Olympic assembly, during which a symbolic flame was lit. The younger pupils then played and enjoyed sausages around a campfire, while the older ones began competing in cross-country races and a football tournament for the Principal’s Cup of the Primary School in Dąbrowa, which was won by the football team from the Primary School in Żeliszów.
Between the sports competitions, the pupils took part in numerous contests and games. A highlight was a scored air-rifle shooting competition at a target. This competition was won by the host team, that is, the pupils from the school in Dąbrowa. The egg-throwing contest, in which pupils and teachers took part, was the funniest competition. The parents, meanwhile, made sure that all the children were fed – in addition to sausages roasted over the campfire, cakes and drinks were handed out.
Everyone – the school staff, GOKiS staff and the parents – made this day a true Children’s Day celebration.
