One of the more beautiful palaces built in the late Renaissance style was the palace in Modła, constructed between 1564 and 1567. Its owner and builder was Nickel von Bibran. It later became the residence of many well-known German noble families.
Nickel von Bibran had three wives: Mrs von Hocke, von Kromnar and von Reder. Each of them contributed new elements to the expansion and beautification of the castle.
Surrounded by an old and beautiful park, it was one of the finest residences in this part of Silesia.
