On 10 April 1996, at the initiative of the Mayor of the Nowogrodziec Municipality and Town, training was held for the headteachers and chief accountants of primary schools from throughout the municipality.
The training was conducted by Antoni Jeżowski, MA, a consultant on the organisation and management of education at the Regional Methodological Centre in Jelenia Góra, as well as editor-in-chief of the monthly magazine "Dyrektor Szkoły".
The training covered a very broad range of topics, including the operation of a local-government school and the financing of education. Antoni Jeżowski, MA, presented the participants with issues that might seem familiar to everyone, yet are essential for viewing a school and its finances through the prism of the municipal budget and the interdependence between the municipality’s revenues and the inflow of financial resources to individual schools.
The subject of preparing the financial plan for education in the municipality and in individual educational institutions was discussed in detail. Another issue covered was the principles governing the creation of a special fund by budgetary units, since not all schools in our municipality have such "legal instruments".
Throughout the meeting, Antoni Jeżowski, MA, presented the participants with interesting solutions already operating in various regions of our country, which can be used after adapting them to the realities of their own schools.
The meeting covered such a broad range of topics that certain issues were not discussed during the training. Consequently, another meeting was scheduled for May of this year.
I believe that the participants of this interesting meeting will put into practice at their educational institutions the issues discussed during the training.
