On 8 February 1996, the Organizing Committee for the Celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of the Arrival of Poles from the former Yugoslavia was established in Bolesławiec. Its aim is to organize events in April 1996 commemorating this anniversary.
The committee wishes to remind re-emigrants of those years and acquaint the younger generation with this historical fact.
To mark the occasion, evening events combined with artistic performances, an exhibition entitled “Yugoslavia as We Remember It,” and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque on a monument referring to this anniversary will be organized.
We appeal to people who have keepsakes from those years to lend them to the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre, which will display them at the exhibition; after they have been used, they will be returned to their owners.
The Organizing Committee welcomes proposals concerning the organization of the celebrations – telephone contact: 25-59; 45-32; 25-46; – the Organizing Committee includes people representing the city of Bolesławiec and Nowogrodziec, as well as the municipalities of Bolesławiec, Osiecznica, Gromadka and Warta Bolesławiecka.
