On 14 May, the results of the competition for a composition dedicated to Pope John Paul II were announced. The competition was organized by the State Music School and the Bolesławiec City Council as part of a series of events preceding the Holy Father’s visit to the Legnica diocese. The entries were judged by composers Juliusz Karcz (from Zielona Góra), Benedykt Ksiądzyna and Hieronim Lenar (from Legnica).
The jury analyzed 33 competition compositions, which were considered in three age categories: I – 7–11 years, II – 12–18 years, III – over 18 years.
In category I, Agnieszka Jamróz won the competition, Bartłomiej Filipowicz took second place, and Anna Maciejowicz and Katarzyna Wąsik shared third place. Radek Niewęgłowski received an honorable mention. The winners in category II were:
First place – Aleksandra Tambur and Grzegorz Grubiak,
Second place – Iga Kaźmierczak and Helena Paliga
Third place – Urszula Antoniak
Honorable mentions went to Alicja Rajczakowska, Magdalena Jop and Aleksandra Oślak.
In category III, the jury awarded two equal second places to:

It is worth noting that this was the first composition competition in Bolesławiec, and the jury assessed the standard of the entries as high.
