"Głos Bolesławca" was supposed to be a so-called one-day publication, issued on the occasion of the previous General Meeting of the Towarzystwo Miłośników Bolesławca, said Zdzisław Mirecki, who serves as deputy commander of the district police in Lwówek, but lives in Bolesławiec and is deeply involved with TMB. “It turned out,” he said, “that people needed such a monthly magazine, so we published it more and more regularly. Today it is difficult to imagine Bolesławiec without ‘Głos’. Other ventures became associated with the Society in a similar way. We initiated or supported them when there were no other volunteers. With us, the idea of a monument to the Kresowiacy gained strength; in ‘Głos’ we promoted the public fundraising campaign for an ultrasound machine for our hospital, as well as other initiatives. Today, TMB has more than 300 members and is one of the more stable associations of its kind. As a rule, ‘friends’ become active when disputes break out within the community. Apparently, TMB is also present when no one is arguing with anyone.” (zot) “Gazeta Robotnicza,” 4 December 1996
