Performing very well in the third-tier table tennis league, the TOP Bolesławiec players hosted the league leaders, the Śnieżnik Stronie Śląskie team, on 14 December. The visitors arrived in Bolesławiec slightly late. Half an hour after the scheduled time, they nevertheless appeared in the ZSE sports hall on Bielska Street. The first, visual assessment of the opponents caused great surprise. The visiting team consisted of very young boys, only 11–12 years old, and one older player who was a senior. However, they are already mature table tennis players, with Polish championship titles in youth categories to their credit. They demonstrated the level of table tennis they already represent during the match. The Stronie team’s victory was never in danger. With their excellent shots, they amazed both our players and the small number of spectators gathered there. Despite the good performance of the TOP players, they managed to win only six games, ultimately losing 6–12. In the most interesting singles match, the Polish champion, 11-year-old Alain Woś, defeated our best player, Krzysztof Samonek, 2–1, winning the sets 13–21, 21–18 and 23–21. This diminutive player from Stronie has already been “appointed” the successor to the famous Andrzej Grubba. The children’s team from Stronie, supported by one experienced player, is crushing all its league opponents, continuing the traditions of the former “Śnieżnik” team in this sport. Praising the performance of the TOP players, the visitors’ coach stressed that they were the only team so far to put up any kind of “resistance” to his charges.
