Two years ago, an amateur singing and dancing group called "Nastolatki" was formed at the Primary School in Trzebień. The group was inspired by the pupils’ interests and passions, as well as their musical and dancing abilities. The group’s supervisor and instructor is Elżbieta Jawna, representing the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre in Kruszyn. Together with the children and young people, she prepares the programme and dance choreography, and also takes care of selecting suitable props and costumes.
The group consists of female pupils from grades IV–VIII. Its repertoire includes children’s and youth songs, as well as disco dances.
During the 1995/96 school year, at the opening of the newly completed school building, inherited from the Soviet troops, the "Nastolatki" group made its debut, presenting a very lively and dynamic programme. The performance was received very warmly and enthusiastically by the municipal authorities and the local community, as evidenced by thunderous applause, encores and subsequent reviews. The highlight of the inaugural programme was a dynamic, lively cancan, created through the cooperation of Ewa Parzygnat (physical education teachers).
Every year, "Nastolatki" take part in the Municipal Children’s Song Contests, Disco Dance Contests and the Minilist of Hits, organised by the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre in Kruszyn. They achieve leading places and rankings there.
The group’s most outstanding soloists include Joanna Goleńska, Alicja Zaryło, Monika Stelmaszek, Edyta Charewicz and the sole boy, Piotr Kowalski. "Nastolatki" have presented their songs and dances at local events, such as the kayaking trip on the Bóbr River and Wiosna Bolesławiecka, where they represented Bolesławiec Municipality.
They also actively participate in school ceremonies, such as the school festival and a conference for headteachers of schools in the municipality and city of Bolesławiec (the programme was recorded by the Wrocław television station "Fakty"), as well as the Municipal Recitation Contest for grades I–III, organised by teachers from the Primary School in Trzebień.
The group is sponsored by the School Council and GOKiS, which provides material assistance with the purchase of costumes, musical equipment and sound equipment. Despite this support, the group continues to face financial difficulties, felt most acutely while preparing a new artistic programme.
"Nastolatki" is a young and ambitious group with far-reaching plans for the future. Its members wish to expand their musical and dance repertoire so that it can appeal to people from various age groups, with different tastes and interests. The young performers, like their parents and the local community, hope that the municipal authorities, interested in developing rural culture, will include funding for the group’s aforementioned needs in the budget for the new calendar year.
