In the final, SP 6 faced SP 9. The result was 4:2 (3:2) for the boys from “6”, coached by Wiesław Witaszek. Smolarek and Ziaja scored 2 goals each for the winners, while Rychert scored both goals for the defeated team.
At the beginning of December, Zbigniew Mandziejewicz arrived in Bolesławiec. He comes from our town and currently represents Legia Warszawa and Poland in the European Cup of Champions in football. Mandziejewicz’s parent club, BKS Bolesławiec, took the opportunity to present the well-known footballer to young football enthusiasts and organized an indoor football tournament for his cup. The best teams from Bolesławiec primary schools – born in 1983 – were invited. Everyone invited came to the hall of Primary School No. 10, made available by Headmistress Ewa Niewodniczańska: SP 2, SP 3, SP 6, SP 8, SP9 and SP 10.
Team line-ups: SP 6 – T. Szmit, W. Smolarek, K. Czech, D. Kaśkow, B. Ziaja, P. Trykowski. SP 9 – Ł. Paprot, K. Paprot, M. Kopka, K. Rosa, P. Rychert, G. Miżdal, R. Stachowski – team supervisor Wiesław Słobodzian. The tournament’s chief referee was Artur Kulas from OKS Legnica (pictured).
An undoubted attraction for the young footballers was an exhibition match involving senior players, including: Janusz Kubot (manager of Zagłębie Lubin’s football team), Wojtek Zimmermann, Zbigniew Szewczyk, Sławomir Stulin, Andrzej Jagiera and Stanisław Zapiór.
At the ceremonial closing, attended by invited Municipal Council Chairman Władysław Landsberg, commemorative cups, certificates and material gifts were presented. They were funded by: Andrzej Maciąg from the “Julia” Glassworks in Szklarska Poręba, Sławomir Stulin, Janusz Kubot, Zbigniew Mandziejewicz, Dom Mody “Jazz”, “Rulimpex” and BKS.
Jacek Niewidomy was also honored as the most versatile player, Bartek Ziaja as the best technician, Tomek Szmit as the best goalkeeper, and Marcin Graczyk as the top scorer, with 8 goals in the tournament.
Unfortunately, during the competition, its main initiator, Zbigniew Mandziejewicz, informed the organizers that he would be absent for family reasons. Nevertheless, the event was successful, providing excellent entertainment for the participants and the large audience, with Janusz Kubot and Zbigniew Szewczyk playing the main roles by handing out many autographs.
