Bolesławiec has no reason to complain about the quality of its baked goods. Private bakeries do a great deal to ensure that bread is tasty and almost always fresh. The law of competition and the desire to win customers are doing their work here. Perhaps the PSS "Społem" bakery is still lagging somewhat behind the private bakeries... (The "Społem" bakery had already been outdone by the GS bakery in terms of the taste of its bread—could it be that the complex remains?).
The good quality of the bread from many bakeries is evidenced by the fact that long queues form outside some bakeries in the morning hours. Visitors readily buy and praise baked goods from our town, including guests from across the Nysa. So, well done, bakers—keep it up!
For the customers of Bolesławiec’s shops to be fully satisfied, some more noticeable improvements in the dairy sector would be useful. A few years ago, members of the OSM Management Board made the improvement and expansion of the range of products (processed goods) conditional on completing the reconstruction of OSM’s facilities on Jeleniogórska Street. The builders left the site long ago, but somehow no major changes can be seen. What are people complaining about? That milk is available only in one-litre packages, while sour cream comes only in half-litre ones ("because they want to sell more, and as for half of it being poured away later, what do they care?"). That there are no homogenized cheeses, let alone flavored ones. That there are no yogurts, kefirs or sweet cream. That the sour cream delivered to shops with a Saturday date is in fact from Friday, while its taste is from Thursday. That butter, although labeled "extra," refuses to spread, and so on and so forth.
Or perhaps people have gone crazy, especially since shops still sell good cream from distant Łowicz, or cheese or yogurt from nearby Berlin?
