The festival took place on Saturday, May 10, in the municipal park on Tyrankiewiczów Street. One of the most important events was the 14th First Aid Championship for Upper-Secondary Schools, in which fourteen teams took part, including three teams from Bautzen. This year, representatives of I Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Bolesławiec won first and second place. The team from Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych came third.

“The competition was held at a very high level,” Anna Ostaszewska said to the IstotneInformacje.pl portal , the championship organizer and a member of the District Board of the Polish Red Cross in Bolesławiec. “It is worth organizing such events because they can show people that someone without medical training is capable of saving another person’s life,” she added.

A rescue operation by the County Fire Service, the Emergency Medical Service and the Polish Red Cross Medical Rescue Group was highly spectacular. Using specialized equipment, firefighters from Bolesławiec cut open a Wartburg and removed the victims of a staged road accident. The injured were given first aid by German rescuers.

The police stand attracted considerable interest, especially among the youngest residents of Bolesławiec. Visitors could see the officers’ uniforms and equipment and even sit in a police car. Police officers handed out information leaflets to those who wanted to find out who served as the community police officer in a particular part of the city. In addition, anyone interested could have their fingerprints taken.
