The Lower Silesian Voivodeship Board made the decision on the matter on April 29. The competition for the position of director of the Regional Hospital for the Nervously and Mentally Ill in Bolesławiec was announced twice. The previous competition was not concluded. This time, 6 candidates applied.
The voivodeship authorities decided that Mariusz Put would take up the duties of director of the medical facility on May 1. Put was born in Wrocław and is a graduate of the local Academy of Economics. He completed postgraduate studies in Banking Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Wrocław, as well as the postgraduate course “Practical Financial Management” at the Faculty of Management and Information Technology of Wrocław’s Academy of Economics. He also completed a course preparing candidates for work on the supervisory boards and management boards of companies, ending with an examination before the Examination Commission at the Ministry of Ownership Transformations.
He has been a member of the Labour Union for 10 years. At the beginning of his professional career, he was associated with the banking sector. Later, among other positions, he was a management board member and deputy director for economic and financial affairs at the Lower Silesian Regional Health Insurance Fund and the Lower Silesian NFZ Branch.
The new director has set several goals for himself. He wants to ensure the facility’s financial liquidity. “We will continue talks on increasing the value of our contract,” Mariusz Putannounces. “So that everyone—as before—receives their salaries on time, and so that there are still funds for purchasing medicines, food and the items essential for the hospital’s operation,” he adds.
To persuade the NFZ to increase its contracts, the hospital must develop. The director is focusing primarily on neurology. He intends to obtain investment funding from the Multiannual Investment Programme and the Regional Operational Programme. In the near future, the facility will also seek funds for thermal modernisation.
Asked whether he feared that his opponents would look for compromising information about him, he replied: “I have nothing to reproach myself for. I have a strong backbone; I am not at risk of becoming entangled in corruption.”
