Grzegorz Weselak will take part in the final tournament of the 14th National Children and Youth Olympiad, which will be held in Wałbrzych from April 26 to May 1. He is the only basketball player from Bolesławiec in the Lower Silesian cadet team for the 1993 age group. The other representatives of our region play for Wrocław clubs WKK and WKS Śląsk on a daily basis.
This is a great achievement both for the player himself and for his club coach. It is difficult for young basketball players to break into the provincial team, especially when they do not come from the region’s most prominent clubs.
For the Lower Silesian cadets to take part in the Olympic final, they had to compete in qualifying tournaments. There, they defeated their peers from other provinces without major problems. In the coming days, they will have another opportunity to show that the region’s clubs are training young basketball players well.
A strong performance in the finals is an opportunity for each of the Lower Silesian cadets—and therefore also for Grzegorz Weselak—to be called up to the national team.
