On Saturday, 5 April, a tree-planting campaign organized by the Democratic Left Alliance in cooperation with Bolesławiec Forest District took place. It was attended by supporters of Bolesławiec’s left-wing movement: both SLD activists and members of, among others, the Federation of Young Social Democrats and the Association of Pensioners and Retirees. In total, the participants planted approximately 3,000 seedlings!

The campaign was organized near Osieczów, close to the site where the A4 motorway (the Zgorzelec–Krzyżowa section) is being built. The trees planted there are intended in the future to protect the forest from exhaust fumes and noise, and to prevent animals from running onto the motorway.

The initiative proceeded smoothly and in a pleasant atmosphere. Older and younger people, women and men—all of them readily took up shovels and enthusiastically planted trees in the locations designated by the foresters. The participants acknowledged that activities of this kind are extremely necessary, if only so that we can enjoy a healthy natural environment for as long as possible.

Because of the high level of interest, the organizers announced that the campaign would be repeated next year.
