The ceremonial presentation of the Bolesławiec mayor’s awards for promoting the city in 2007 took place on February 28 at the Shanghai Hotel. The awards have been presented since 1997. To date, more than 190 individual and group awards have been presented. Honorary awards were presented for the first time in 2004, and distinctions were introduced in 2006. Three years ago, a statuette shaped like a span of the Bolesławiec viaduct was also introduced.

Award winners are often referred to as ambassadors of Bolesławiec. They represent our city at many prestigious events and influence how it is perceived in Poland and abroad. During the gala, Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman emphasized the major role played by the city’s residents in promoting it.

Here is the list of this year’s winners of the Bolesławiec City Mayor’s Award:

  • honorary awards: Spółdzielnia Mieszkaniowa „Bolesławianka”, 23 Śląska Brygada Artylerii, Gerresheimer Bolesławiec S.A.
  • individual award in science: Anna Olejnik (I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Władysława Broniewskiego w Bolesławcu)
  • team awards in science: Karolina Głowacka, Natalia Leniec, Anna Olejnik, Konrad Pieszko, Maciej Cierniak, Arkadiusz Tomczuk from I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Władysława Broniewskiego; Gimnazjum Samorządowe nr 2 w Bolesławcu
  • individual awards in sport: Jacek Nabożny (athlete with Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy „Bolesłavia”), Karolina Kędzia (MKS „Bolesłavia”), Dorota Medyńska (athlete with „TOP” Bolesławiec – volleyball section), Waldemar Krzemiński („TOP” Bolesławiec – table tennis section), Kacper Grela („TOP” Bolesławiec – chess section), Remigiusz Kacperczyk („TOP” Bolesławiec – table tennis section), Wojciech Leszczyński („Starbol” Bolesławiec), Waldemar Krysztofiak (coach with MKS „Bolesłavia”), Ryszard Posacki (coach with MKS „Bolesłavia”), Krystyna Szwajkowska („TOP” – badminton and racketlon section)
  • individual awards in culture: Przemysław Filipowicz, Małgorzata Kuśnierz, Dariusz Gruszecki, Henryk Kaźmierczak (the award will officially be presented during the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival), Sylwia Popławska, Teresa Bancewicz
  • team awards in culture: Zespół Pieśni i Tańca „Bolesławiec”, Akademia Sztuki Bolesławieckiego Ośrodka Kultury, Bolesławieckie Stowarzyszenie Kolekcjonerów i Miłośników Miasta
  • the team award in the social category went to Zarząd Rejonowy Polskiego Czerwonego Krzyża w Bolesławcu
  • in recognition of special заслуги in promoting the city, special distinctions were awarded to: Iwona Banach, Bogusław Nowak and Młodzieżowy Dom Kultury
  • distinctions for sports clubs: Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy „Bolesłavia”, Klub Sportowy „TOP” Bolesławiec, Bolesławiecki Klub Brydżowy, Drużyna Kolarska „Cyklosport Bolesławiec”, Klub Pływacki Masters Bolesławiec, II Drużyna BKS „Bobrzanie”.

The gala was enhanced by a performance from Zespół Pieśni i Tańca Bolesławiec. The ceremony was hosted by Dariusz Maląg from Muzyczne Radio.
