No one questions the need for a winter break. To make this break even more enjoyable for children from the rural municipality, GOKiS employees visited the following places during the first week of the holidays: Suszki, Ocice, Bolesławice, Kraśnik Dolny, Łaziska, Stare Jaroszowice, Trzebień, Kraśnik Górny, Kruszyn, Żeliszów, Lipiany and Trzebień Mały.
Last year, the municipality’s young residents learned how to provide first aid. This time, GOKiS offered the youngest participants a game aimed at counteracting racist behaviour—a game involving colourful worlds. It begins with drawing colours. The room is then divided and the boundaries of fictional countries are marked out. The children invent a currency, a national anthem, traditional dances and even such a prosaic thing as a daily menu corresponding to the colours they drew.
The inhabitants of the colourful countries meet at an Olympic games event, where they compete in physical games. It is worth emphasising that everyone present at the activities takes part in the game, including the parents, who are also assigned important roles by the leaders.
The colourful world is watched over by a Guardian with magical powers. The Guardian weaves a story into the children’s game. In each country, a child appears who pays no attention to disputes between the countries and decides to learn about the cultures of countries with different colours. When the child befriends the young inhabitants of the other countries, they discover that despite their differences, all the children have a wonderful time playing together.
At the end of the game, each child takes a piece of paper in the colour of their country and puts it into the Guardian’s magical box. Thanks to the “magic”, the colourful pieces of paper turn into sweets.
In some places, the game ended with refreshments prepared by members of the Housewives’ Associations (Suszki, Łaziska, Stare Jaroszowice, Lipiany).
During the second week of the winter holidays, activities will be held, among other places, in Krępnica, Kraszowice, Nowa, Łąka and Golnice. Details can be found on the GOKiS website.
