As part of this year’s health program, “Screening tests – prevention of prostate conditions,” the following are provided: prostate ultrasound, PSA level testing, and urological consultations. The program is intended for men over 50 years of age who reside in the Municipality of Bolesławiec; it does not include people who benefited in 2007 from diagnostic tests funded by the city authorities as part of prostate cancer prevention, except where a doctor has recommended repeating the test.
The tests are performed at the Health Care Complex on Jeleniogórska Street upon presentation of an identity document confirming the patient’s age and place of residence, as well as a doctor’s recommendation in cases where the test is being repeated.
Patients arrange screening appointments by telephone at 075 738 02 86 (Monday to Friday, from 12:00 to 13:00). Detailed information about the program is available at 075 738 02 80 (Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 15:00). The program will run until 19 December 2008. The city’s current budget allocated PLN 15,000 for this purpose.
Prevention for women
As part of the health program, “Screening tests – prevention of breast conditions in women,” the following are provided: breast mammography with instructions on breast self-examination, a report on the mammographic image, and breast ultrasound. Program duration: from 14 February to 19 December 2008.
The tests are conducted at the General X-ray Diagnostics and Mammography Department of the “Stomadent” Non-Public Health Care Facility on Dolne Młyny Street and are intended for women over 40 years of age who reside in the Municipality of Bolesławiec. The program does not include people who benefited in 2007 from diagnostic tests funded by the Municipality of Bolesławiec as part of breast disease prevention, except where repeating the test results from a doctor’s recommendation.
Patients arrange appointments in person or by telephone at 075 732 65 95 (Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 20:00, Saturdays from 8:00 to 14:00). The tests are performed upon presentation of an identity document confirming age and place of residence, as well as a doctor’s recommendation in cases where the test is being repeated. The city budget allocated PLN 51,000 for this health program.
Preventive screenings for prostate conditions and breast conditions in women have been conducted in Bolesławiec for the third consecutive year. Both health programs are funded from the city budget. In 2006, 480 women and 192 men benefited from the free screenings; in 2007, the figures were 550 women and 182 men.
