What do the deserts of Africa, Australia and both Americas look like through Michał Sikorski’s lens? You can find out until 17 March in the building of the City History Department of the Museum of Ceramics at 14 Kutuzowa Street. The exhibition shows that a desert is not only yellow sand, and the Little Prince’s words that “what makes the desert beautiful is that it hides, somewhere, a well” may have a literal meaning.

Michał Sikorski is a graduate of the Artistic High School in Gdynia, where he studied photography, as well as higher education in art history and the history of photography in Sweden. He has lived in Scandinavia for over 30 years. Professionally involved in photography, he travels around the world. He is a member of the elite association of photographers “Naturfotograferna” and the International Federation of Wildlife Photography (IFWP). He seeks inspiration for his work in many regions, on all continents. He has visited more than 40 countries around the world.

He has exhibited his work in Poland, Sweden, Germany, Australia and Malaysia. His photographs do not belong to the documentary genre. They do not depict rare birds or animals or unique landforms solely for educational purposes. The artist is not a naturalist, but a photographer who strives to capture and preserve on film the fleeting and mysterious beauty of nature.
