On Monday, 21 January, an Evening of Emotion was held in the sports hall in Brzeźnik, organized to mark Grandmother’s and Grandfather’s Day. The event attracted so many spectators that there were not enough seats. This was due to the presence of entire families and residents not only from Brzeźnik. An original idea was to place the stage in the middle of the hall, with the audience seated all around it.
The youngest participants performed first, reciting literary texts from memory and demonstrating their dancing skills. They were followed on stage by the Artistic Circle, led by Krystyna Grela. For much of the Evening of Emotion’s audience, the fairy tale about Little Red Riding Hood might have been associated with rather unpleasant experiences involving a grandmother, so a completely different version of the well-known story was presented. In the Artistic Circle’s interpretation, the wolf met Little Red Riding Hoods from different parts of the world in the forest. Each of them was going to visit her grandmother (to the end, it was not known whether it was the same grandmother). Different cultures collided, and the wolf’s confusion was the audience’s only temporary concern. Fortunately, the fairy tale ended well, and everyone lived happily ever after.
After the unusual interpretation of the fairy tale, the lighting in the hall changed. By the glow of candles and blinking Christmas lights, the audience listened to beautiful Christmas carols and pastorales. Encouraged by the children, the audience joined in the singing.
After a few minutes’ break, everyone present had the opportunity to listen to carols and other songs performed by Gminny Zespół Pieśni i Tańca „Jutrzenka”. Many grandmothers and grandfathers sang Croatian songs together with the ensemble—songs that, as it turned out, were very familiar to them.
