On December 21, City Hall employees approved the quality of the renovation of the surfaces in the rear areas at Chrobrego and Żwirki i Wigury streets. The work was carried out by Miejski Zakład Gospodarki Komunalnej. Drainage gullies were installed in the courtyards to drain the area. The renovation works included, among other things, replacing curbs and laying paving stones. The project cost nearly PLN 60,000. Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman announced that modernization work would continue in the remaining parts of the courtyards.
Internal roads at 43–65 and 44–54 Dolne Młyny Street were modernized. In total, nearly 1,500 m² of surface was paved. The internal roads were made of concrete paving blocks and openwork concrete slabs. The construction work was carried out by a company from Bolesławiec. The investment cost more than PLN 300,000.
Renovations at Gdańska Street
At 9 Gdańska Street, work on renovating the building’s façade has also been completed. The scope of the work included, among other things, replacing the window joinery in the residential units, stairwell and basements, replacing the external doors at the rear, and renovating the entrance doors at the front. The external walls at the rear were also insulated. At the front, renovation plaster was applied, and the existing brickwork was cleaned and impregnated. The construction work was carried out by a company from Bolesławiec. The investment was worth nearly PLN 170,000.
In the residential building at 63 Gdańska Street, officials approved the quality of the roof renovation work. Roof tiles and roofing felt were replaced, and the chimneys and fire walls were renovated. As part of the roof renovation, sheet-metal flashings for the gutters and downpipes were installed.
For the residents of three apartments—most often elderly people—this was an almost historic renovation and certainly a long-awaited one. Finally, they no longer have to leave the building to use the toilet in the courtyard. Some of these people had used an outdoor privy since 1951. Bathrooms were installed in the apartments, which first required sewer, water and electrical systems and ventilation ducts to be brought in. The construction work was carried out by a company from Bolesławiec. The investment cost more than PLN 111,000.
