The opening of the photographic exhibition “Art Nouveau of Lviv and the Borderlands” was held on 14 December in the building of the Museum of Ceramics on Mickiewicza Street. The Bolesławiec exhibition presents several dozen works by photographer Zdzisław J. Zieliński—a native of Lviv and a great admirer of the city.
The photographs on display depict Lviv’s Art Nouveau architecture. Lviv Art Nouveau was unique and original, differing from Viennese Art Nouveau. The photographs show both the rich ornamentation characteristic of this style and architectural gems that perfectly reflect the character of Lviv—its cultural richness and diversity.
As Adam Fornal of the Society of Friends of Lviv and the Southeastern Borderlands said, this exhibition was organized “so that young people could see how beautiful Lviv is.” Zdzisław J. Zieliński emphasized that Lviv is a city one can fall in love with, and that the view from High Castle is the most beautiful view in the world.
This is not the only exhibition by the Wrocław photographer that can be visited in our city. A historical exhibition, “1918 Battles for Lviv”, has been on display at the Bolesławiec Town Hall since 5 December. “I photograph what I like or what interests me,” Zdzisław J. Zieliński told the Boleslawiec.org portal—“Both exhibitions are connected with Lviv; their subject matter is different.”
Zdzisław J. Zieliński has lived in Wrocław since 1945. He is the founder of the Society of Friends of Lviv. He has exhibited his works at numerous exhibitions in Poland, as well as in France and Lithuania.
