An unusual incident occurred on November 28 in the centre of Lubań. At around 10:30 p.m., a local resident notified the police about a broken window in the display window of one of the clothing stores. At the scene, police officers found signs of a break-in. It was established that the burglars had taken a satin tunic, a sweater, trousers and a woollen scarf. In addition, a female mannequin dressed in a scarf, hat and gloves disappeared from the display.
Lubań police officers found the mannequin, already without its clothes, on steps near the store. They subsequently also arrested a 22-year-old man who had previously been convicted of burglary. At the time of his arrest, the man had 1.9 parts per thousand of alcohol in his system. Almost simultaneously, officers also caught his accomplice, a 48-year-old man.
The older perpetrator explained that he had quarrelled with his beloved. He broke into the store to give her a present. He also admitted that he had smashed the shop window, while the younger man kept watch.
The police went to the burglar's beloved's flat and found her trying on the dubious gifts. All the stolen property was recovered. The perpetrators face up to 10 years in prison.
