On Independence Day, residents of our town and its surrounding area were completely caught off guard by a sudden bout of winter weather. It is mid-November – astronomical winter will not begin until December 22! The exceptionally heavy snowfall that swept across, among other places, Bolesławiec County on Sunday took its toll on drivers. All the more so because many of them had not yet had time to change to winter tires.
The snowstorm caused traffic disruptions and reduced visibility. On November 11, a serious-looking accident occurred in our county. In the morning, a Mercedes skidded on the A-18 motorway and left the road. The car overturned onto its roof. The firefighters’ rescue operation – also due to the difficult weather conditions – lasted 3.5 hours.
