The Agricultural Market Agency announced that this school year it will provide financial support for the EU programme “Subsidies for the consumption of milk and milk products in educational institutions”. As a result, in addition to EU subsidies, primary school students will also benefit from a state budget grant. Meanwhile, children and young people from preschools and lower-secondary schools will additionally receive a subsidy from the Dairy Promotion Fund. This will allow all young people to consume during the school year:

  • unflavoured milk – free of charge
  • flavoured milk, natural yoghurt, curd cheese and soft curd cheese, or yellow cheese – at significantly reduced prices

At the same time, the Agricultural Market Agency sent an information brochure entitled “Subsidies for the consumption of milk and milk products in educational institutions” and a CD containing information on how to effectively apply for an EU subsidy, a national subsidy or funding from the Dairy Promotion Fund, as well as the necessary forms. These materials were handed out to educational institutions in Lower Silesian Voivodeship during conferences for directors of schools and educational institutions organised by the Lower Silesian Board of Education.

Milk is the most readily available, rich source of easily absorbed calcium. One glass of milk contains approximately 300 mg of this valuable element. Scientists and doctors around the world consider milk an essential and valuable component of the diet, especially during human development. Drinking it in childhood is an investment in health for life.
