From 21 to 23 September, the industrial areas of Gromadka municipality were transformed into the set of “Little Moscow” by Waldemar Krzystek. Scenes for the new film by the renowned director, remembered among other things for films such as “The Last Ferry” and “Released from Life”, had previously been shot in Wrocław and Legnica.

The film tells a nostalgic yet romantic story of the unhappy love of a Soviet pilot’s wife for a Polish officer. The picture is set in the reality of Legnica (Legnica was once called “little Moscow”). The action takes place in 1967–68.

The outdoor scenes at the airfield in Krzywa were used primarily because of the naturally preserved aircraft hangars and sections of runways dating from the time when soldiers of the Northern Group of Forces of the Soviet Army were stationed there. As in former times, the airfield was filled with military equipment from that era. A MiG-21 aircraft was placed in the hangar, while helicopters, ZIŁ trucks, off-road vehicles and anti-aircraft guns were positioned nearby. Naturally, smaller-calibre weapons were also present, including AK-47 rifles and P-64 handguns. An expert from the Museum of Weapons and Military Equipment in Świdnica supervised the accurate recreation of the military realities of the late 1960s.

The set of the film “Little Moscow” was closed to the public. Nevertheless, at the special request of Gromadka Municipality Head Dariusz Pawliszczy, a group of students from the School Complex in Gromadka took part in a live history lesson.
