The accident occurred at around 4 a.m. near the Jadwisin-Witkówek exit on the A4 motorway, when, for unknown reasons, another truck crashed into a lorry stopped on the hard shoulder. A man who was lying under the parked vehicle and repairing a fault was killed. It is known that conditions on the road were difficult because it was raining. It was not possible to establish whether the lorry stopped on the hard shoulder was properly marked.
The passenger of the parked lorry and the driver of the truck that caused the accident were taken to hospital. The lane toward Zgorzelec, between the exits to Chojnów and Jadwisin, was blocked for several hours. The police organized detours through Chojnów and Bolesławiec.
