The politicians of the League of Polish Families and Law and Justice forming the board do not approve of the festival director combining three positions: besides managing the event, she is also director of the Wrocław Philharmonic and a Member of the European Parliament. In addition, the employment of her sister as her deputy and her daughter as head of the festival’s youth office may raise doubts.
Asked about the possibility of voluntarily stepping down as director, Lidia Geringer d'Oedenberg replies that she will not resign.
The Board wants the change in the director’s position to take place before the end of the calendar year. No official decisions have yet been made, but Andrzej Pawluszek, a member of the Voivodeship Board (Law and Justice) responsible for culture, says that “combining the three functions held by Lidia Geringer d'Oedenberg is obviously impossible. If the director and MP does not draw the appropriate conclusions herself, the Voivodeship Board will do so.”
