The accident occurred on Monday evening in Raciborowice. Cezary P. had attended a meeting of the councillors’ club. On his way home, on a bend in the road, he hit a pedestrian who unexpectedly stepped onto the roadway.

The accident took place about 150 metres from the deputy starosta’s home. Cezary P. immediately informed the relevant services about the incident. The injured man was taken to hospital, where he died several hours later.

It is already known that the deputy starosta was sober. This was shown both by a breath alcohol test and by a voluntary blood test to which Cezary P. submitted.

The skid marks are approximately eight metres long. The car was therefore not travelling fast. It is likely that the man who was hit was drunk. More will be known after the autopsy.

The investigation is being conducted by the Bolesławiec police. Additionally, to clarify all the circumstances, the prosecutor appointed an expert from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
