For pupils and students born in 1983 or later, PKP Intercity has prepared the easy rider offer. The offer will be valid from 1 July to 30 September. Easy rider tickets are named tickets costing PLN 149, entitling holders to ten journeys in second class on trains operated by Tanich Linii Kolejowych (TLK), express (Ex) and InterCity (IC) services. The easy rider ticket can be used on weekdays, from Monday to Friday. The ticket will be available only at a station ticket office—for each journey, it must be validated by a ticket clerk or conductor, and the appropriate seat reservation must be purchased: PLN 3 on TLK trains, PLN 10 on Ex trains and PLN 25 on IC trains. The ticket will be valid together with a school or student ID card, whose number the holder must enter on the ticket before starting the first journey.
The bingo offer, meanwhile, has been prepared for budget-conscious travellers. It will be valid from 25 June to 31 August, on weekdays and only on a few express and InterCity trains: from Warsaw to Słupsk, Kraków, Wrocław and Katowice. A single ticket for these trains will cost PLN 25. The number of tickets will be limited.
For the holidays, PKP Przewozy Regionalne is offering the regio pass. This ticket entitles passengers to multiple journeys on passenger and fast trains, in any class, on three freely selected days. It costs PLN 120 and will be valid from 25 June to 27 September, and then again from 29 October to 28 December. Passes can be purchased in advance, exclusively at a ticket office, seven days before each of the dates listed above. The identity document number must be entered on the ticket; without it, the ticket will be invalid. Before the first journey, the pass holder must have the travel date marked at a ticket office or by a conductor.
During holiday weekends, the tourist ticket—one of the more popular PKP PR offers among travellers—remains valid. The named tourist ticket entitles holders to an unlimited number of journeys on passenger and fast trains from 6:00 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 a.m. on Monday. It costs PLN 60 for second-class travel and PLN 80 for first-class travel. From this year, the tourist ticket also entitles holders to travel to border towns in Germany (Löcknitz, Tantow, Küstrin-Kietz, Frankfurt nad Odrą, Görlitz) and the Czech Republic (Český Těšín, Lichkov, Petrovice u Karviné, Bohumín).
People travelling with children can use cheaper family fares. The offer is intended for people travelling by passenger and fast trains with children under 16. The discount is available to a maximum of two adults travelling with a maximum of two children. Eligibility for the family fare is confirmed by a document stating the child’s age. When purchasing the ticket, ask for a ticket under the “family travel” fare.
People travelling no more than 200 km can purchase an excursion ticket, valid in second class on passenger and fast trains along the specified route. The excursion ticket entitles the holder to travel from 8:00 p.m. either on a working day—for example, on Friday after 8:00 p.m.—directly preceding consecutive non-working days, or on a non-working day (Saturday, Sunday or a public holiday).
Or perhaps a short holiday trip abroad? The ZVON “Euro–Nysa” ticket makes a one-day trip to our western and southern neighbours possible. A full-day excursion, for example to the Czech Liberec or the German resorts in the Zittau Mountains, costs just PLN 20 (or PLN 75 for five people)—the price of a ZVON ticket. It can be purchased at the PKP station in Bolesławiec. The “Euro-Nysa” ticket entitles holders to travel by passenger and fast trains from Bolesławiec to Görlitz and Jelenia Góra. On the German side, it can be used on all transport services operated by the Upper Lusatia and Lower Silesia Transport Association (ZVON). The ticket is valid throughout the ZVON area in Germany and throughout the Liberec Region in the Czech Republic, excluding public transport in Liberec and Česká Lípa. The ticket is valid from the time of purchase until 4:00 a.m. the following day; in the Liberec Region, it is valid until midnight on the day of validity.
