On Sunday, the Street Races – Bolesławiec 2007 were held on the city’s streets. The start and finish were located at Priest Popiełuszko Square. Everyone interested could take part in the competition, regardless of age or place of residence. For the first time in the Bolesławiec event, an athlete in a wheelchair competed. It was Grzegorz Żyłkiewicz from Świeradów Zdrój.
Among the children, Jakub Kalinowski from Bolesławiec was the fastest over 400 metres. The 800-metre races were won by Wrocław residents: Małgorzata Zieleń and Bartłomiej Rodak. Over 1,200 metres, the fastest were Paulina Zarzycka from Wrocław and Wojciech Kowalski from Bolesławiec.
The main race was won by Angelika Averkova from Ukraine and Aleksandr Nikalayuk from Belarus. The title of best female athlete from Bolesławiec went to Kinga Herjauec. Marcin Bieniek was awarded the title of best male athlete from Bolesławiec.
In the 3rd Lower Silesian Abstainers’ Run, the winners in their categories were: Natalia Szwinta from Piechowice, Grzegorz Turkiewicz from Bielawa, and Bolesławiec residents Joanna Lewandowska, Krzysztof Drozd, Dorota Wątorek and Andrzej Galant. In the club classification, KA Eden Piechowice won, ahead of BSA Przemiana and KA Bielawa.
The Street Races – Bolesławiec 2007 were organised by the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre in cooperation with the Bolesłavia Inter-School Sports Club.
