On Saturday, October 22, the BTS Elektros Bolesławiec volleyball players hosted the leaders of the fourth group of the second division, Sobieski Żagań. The hosts made an excellent start, confidently winning the first set 25:21. In the second set, however, the visitors proved better, at one point taking a nine-point lead (20:11). Despite an ambitious fight, the “Electrics” were unable to make up the deficit, and the set went to the team from Żagań (25:17).

The third set was a point-for-point battle. The “Electrics” had already built a lead of several points. Unfortunately, Sobieski’s players were again better in the closing stages, winning the set 25:22. Bolesławiec had a chance to force a tie-break, but their opponents once again pulled away from the team from the City of Ceramics and won the fourth set 25:21, taking the entire match 3:1.

“In the first set, we gave Sobieski Żagań’s volleyball players quite a scare,” says Jacek Łuczkowski, head of the Bolesławiec Volleyball Association. “BTS Elektros have started with a won set in four consecutive matches. This shows that there is potential in this team. But we need a victory as much as we need oxygen. And this is not a matter of ability, because if we win the opening set in our fourth consecutive match—regardless of whether we play a team from the lower part of the table or the leaders—it means we are not falling behind. We are not worse than the other second-division teams. We need a breakthrough match.”

As the BTS president emphasizes, every match is a new experience for the “Electrics,” which will certainly pay dividends in the future. “Everything is still ahead of us. The level in the group is very even. Our goal of staying in the second division is realistic,” adds Jacek Łuczkowski. “The team deserves praise for its fighting spirit. Despite the difficulties we face as newcomers, we are not pushovers.”
