On October 17, 2016, the Grand Business Gala took place at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław. During the event, awards and certificates were presented to nominees and winners of the 13th edition of the “Lower Silesian Gryf–Economic Award” competition. The competition was held in eight categories. Bolesławiec was among the nominees for the award for local governments achieving particular success in cooperation with business. In this category, Bolesławiec competed with the Kobierzyce municipality, the Trzebnica municipality and Wrocław County.

The “Gryf” statuette went to the city of Bolesławiec. The city’s president, Piotr Roman, accepted the prestigious distinction on behalf of Bolesławiec. He expressed great joy at the city receiving the award and highlighted Bolesławiec’s dynamic development and the resulting fall in unemployment from 25 percent to approximately 3.5 percent. “Bolesławiec has come a difficult way from the bankruptcy of many plants to this economic success. Suffice it to say that just over a dozen years ago, one person in three was unemployed. Today, the unemployment rate is 3.5 percent, while the number of business entities has increased by nearly 20 percent,” Piotr Roman reported. During the Grand Business Gala, a “Gryf” statuette was also presented in the “Ambassador of Lower Silesia” category. The statuette went to Zakłady Ceramiczne “Bolesławiec”, which began operating in 1946. The company’s products are highly regarded and have received numerous awards and distinctions. The award was accepted by the company’s president, Wiesław Ogrodnik. The Bolesławiec company competed with the nominated companies “Śnieżka Invest” and “Eckert AS”.

The “Lower Silesian Gryf–Economic Award” competition is organized by: the Western Chamber of Commerce, the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, the Employers’ Association Polska Miedź, Employers of Poland, the substantive partner PwC, and the competition’s patron, mBank S.A.
