The Płatnik program provides support for insurance documents necessary to maintain contributors’ and insured persons’ accounts. It is made available free of charge. Unfortunately, it has one drawback. It works only with the Windows system. According to the program’s producer, versions of Płatnik for other operating systems would be too costly. In connection with the amendment to the Act on the Social Insurance System—the removal of the provision requiring the use of Płatnik—ZUS will, from July 21, honor documents created using programs other than Płatnik (for example, the Janosik program running under Linux).
To ensure the consistent operation of the systems used by ZUS to accept insurance documents with interface programs from other producers, the Institution will publish a list of the electronic document structures, data formats, and communication and encryption protocols in use, as well as acceptance tests for this software.
The company making such a program available to other users will, in turn, be responsible for conducting acceptance tests. These solutions will mean that every contributor can choose the program that suits them. It does not matter which platform it runs on—Windows, Linux, or Mac.
We would also like to pass on ZUS’s warning concerning fraudsters going from house to house.
The Social Insurance Institution informs us that it contacts its clients primarily by letter. However, if someone comes to our home, we should make sure that the official has authorization and an identification card!
