Under the law, an assembly that will not cause traffic disruptions must be reported at least two days before the planned date. So far, no one in Bolesławiec has submitted such a notification, meaning that any Monday demonstration involving more than 15 people will be illegal. It is not yet known whether anyone will undertake to organise an assembly and notify the municipal crisis management centre. There is information on discussion forums that something is supposed to happen on Monday at 5:00 p.m. in the Market Square, but this is probably nothing certain and it has certainly not been reported.

The situation is different when it comes to individual protests. In accordance with the concept of Black Monday, we should not go to work that day. We asked the largest employers whether they had received any leave requests and what they thought about the action.

– President Piotr Roman will not make things difficult for anyone who wants to take leave on Monday – assures Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for the City Hall. So far, the office has not seen an increased number of requests for Monday off.

– This is not an issue here, and there has not been a larger number of leave requests either – says Iwona Przybylska, secretary of Gmina Bolesławiec.

The situation is different at the District Office. – We have already received notifications; we will replace people. We do not interfere because we support our employees. We account for the absence as leave or as hours to be worked. I believe the idea is noble, so we will not make it difficult for anyone to leave on Monday – says Radosław Palczewski, secretary of Bolesławiec District.

– I do not know how many people are taking leave on Monday, because it is already a new month. I do not have such information – an employee of the Artistic Handicraft Cooperative “Ceramika Artystyczna” from the human resources department told us.

Despite our attempts, we were unable to speak with the companies Bader, Zehnder and Zakłady Ceramiczne Bolesławiec.

The Black Protest is an action that began after the Sejm decided to refer to committee work a bill tightening the existing abortion regulations, while rejecting a citizens’ bill intended to liberalise abortion law.

People taking part in the Black Protest express their opposition to tightening abortion regulations by wearing black and posting a photo of themselves on social media marked with the hashtag #CzarnyProtest.
