“The Last Family”—winner of the Golden Lions at the recent 41st Gdynia Film Festival—and the disaster film “Deepwater Horizon,” based on exceptionally dramatic real events.
“The Last Family” tells the story of the family of Zdzisław Beksiński, one of the most distinctive Polish painters of the 20th century, and his son, Tomasz Beksiński, a cult music journalist and film translator.
The film begins in 1977, when Tomek moves into his own apartment. His parents live right next door, in the same housing estate, so their contact remains very intense. Tomek’s hypersensitive and unsettling personality causes his mother, Zofia, to constantly worry about her son. At the same time, Zdzisław Beksiński tries to devote himself entirely to art. After Tomek’s first unsuccessful suicide attempt, Zdzisław and Zofia must fight not only for their son but also to regain control of their own lives. When Zdzisław signs a contract with Piotr Dmochowski, an art dealer living in France, and Tomek begins working for Polish Radio, it seems that the family has overcome its worst troubles. However, a series of strange, fateful events is only about to begin.
“Deepwater Horizon”. The crew of the world’s largest and most modern drilling platform must face the unimaginable power of the sea during a disaster of unprecedented scale. Built in the Gulf of Mexico, the Deepwater Horizon platform is the size of a small housing estate and as tall as a skyscraper. It is intended to extract unprecedented quantities of oil, bringing its owners enormous profits. During the start-up of extraction, however, a failure occurs, soon leading to a series of explosions and a fire on the platform. At the same time, a storm begins in the Gulf. Captain Mike Williams is informed that emergency services will be unable to help the crew because of the extreme weather conditions. Knowing that the platform could sink at any moment, Williams decides to do everything possible to save his people.
We invite our youngest viewers and their entire families to see the latest production from the creators of the hit Minions, “The Secret Life of Pets”. A funny animated comedy about the secret lives of pets who, when their owners leave home, lead separate lives of their own, full of adventures, intrigue and fun. Their main concern is making sure that people do not discover their secret activities.
