An unknown chemical substance is leaking from a van in the village of Kruszyn. The van is parked near Gospoda Kruszyna. Firefighters are carrying out an operation. Road 94 is closed in both directions. Guests of the inn and residents of nearby houses have been evacuated.

A chemical group from the Legnica fire service is at the scene, checking the leaking substance. Fortunately, no one was injured. It is known that the substance is leaking from a van that was supposed to travel to Szczecin.

The fire service and police are informing residents of Bolesławiec and Kruszyn that there is no danger outside the area of the operation. The services are waiting for the Specialist Chemical and Ecological Rescue Group from Wrocław, which will probably confirm that the leaking substance is sulfuric acid.

As reported by TVN24, approximately 100 people in total were evacuated to a nearby school. The substance is leaking from a barrel transported by a delivery van. The substance in the barrel was supposed to be taken for disposal. The barrel sprang a leak during transport. When the substance came into contact with water, smoke began to form.

The operation is not over yet. Firefighters are waiting for a container truck to remove the barrel containing the hazardous substance.
The fire service operation may continue for several more hours.
