As part of the project, a book by Tomasz Jacek Lis entitled “From Bosnia to Poland” was published. It is a source edition of documents concerning the re-emigration of Poles from Bosnia and Herzegovina after the Second World War. The book has been translated into Serbian and additionally includes a chapter covering the Austro-Hungarian period, the interwar period and the Second World War.
The publication was promoted in Prnjavor, Bosnia and Herzegovina, during the conference entitled “Poles on Bosnian Soil – 70 Years After Their Departure”. The conference speakers were the book’s author, a history doctoral student at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń – Tomasz Jacek Lis; Jan Bujak, author of the “Galicians and Serbs” book series; and Miloš Miškowić, a professor of geography and cartography and dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Sarajevo.
The conference also included an artistic performance by young people from the Bolesławiec Song and Dance Ensemble, as well as a concert by the Bolesławiec Brass Band. The following day, the ensembles performed at the “Little Europe” Festival, which also featured the Choir of the Association of Re-emigrants from Bosnia, Their Descendants and Friends.
The project “70 Years Since the Return of Poles from Bosnia – Strengthening the Cultural Identity of the Polish Diaspora in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is co-financed as part of the Senate of the Republic of Poland’s support for the Polish diaspora and Poles abroad.
