On Sunday, around noon, volunteer firefighters from Wrocław were dispatched to assist in the search for a man who had left home and failed to return overnight. – 9 firefighters with 2 search-and-rescue dogs trained for field operations and a quad bike set out for the operation – the Wrocław firefighters said. – When the OSP JRS unit arrived at the scene, the search was already being conducted by police officers, OSP and PSP firefighters from Bolesławiec County, and volunteers. After information was gathered about the circumstances of the disappearance, an area was designated to be searched by the rescue dogs and the quad-bike team.
At 7:07 p.m., the quad-bike team reported finding the missing person near one of the cultivated fields in Brzeźnik (Bolesławiec Municipality). The man was conscious and communicative. Rescuers assessed the injured man’s condition as good. A medical rescue team was called; its members attended to the elderly man and transported him to hospital. The man had spent 31 hours away from home during a heatwave.
The operation involved 50 officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters, 9 firefighters from Wrocław (2 search-and-rescue dogs), 4 firefighters from Siechnice (1 search-and-rescue dog), 5 rescuers from the capital of Lower Silesia, 12 volunteers, and 28 firefighters from Bolesławiec County:
