– The idea of renovating this sidewalk – said Andrzej Kuriata, head of the Public Procurement and Municipal Investments Department at Bolesławiec City Hall, during the August session of the City Council – arose when PWiK informed us that it was rebuilding the water supply network along Dolne Młyny Street, on the second section. The mayor reached an agreement with the county governor, and they decided that the Municipality of Bolesławiec could undertake the renovation of this sidewalk.
Mayor Piotr Roman clarified: – As for the money: we had been in a dispute with the County Office over property tax on an unused building on Armii Krajowej Street. Our services established that we were right, and the money had to be paid. The County’s request was that we return this amount to them in some way. We said: we can, but in that case we propose financing the renovation of some street in the city. We are contributing approximately PLN 20,000, but we want to carry out the renovation of this sidewalk in its entirety.
The project is scheduled to begin in September. It will cost PLN 78,000. The Municipality of Bolesławiec will cover 100% of the project costs and act as substitute investor (Dolne Młyny is a county road). The works will involve renovating 227 metres of the right-hand sidewalk along Dolne Młyny Street, from the intersection with Wróblewski Street to number 44.
Law and Justice councillor Bogdan Biernat asked whether a cycle path would be built there. P. Roman replied: – To designate a cycle path there, all the lime trees would have to be cut down.
The councillors unanimously adopted a resolution on providing in-kind assistance to Bolesławiec County for the implementation of the project entitled “Renovation of the right-hand sidewalk on Dolne Młyny Street in Bolesławiec.” We will return to this topic.
