The bird was swimming in the body of water in Wykroty. Without veterinary care, it had no chance of survival because its broken beak prevented it from taking in food.
As we read on the website of the Municipal Office in Nowogrodziec:
The commitment and tremendous effort of the firefighters from OSP Nowogrodziec-Osiedle, OSP Wykroty and PSP Bolesławiec brought the desired results. The swan was captured. Mr Piotr Nieratka immediately handed the young cygnet over to the appropriate veterinary services.
The rescued bird was named—how could it have been otherwise—Firefighter.
