Last weekend, the first qualifying round of the Polish Radio-Controlled Model Championships took place in Jelcz-Laskowice. Thirty-six competitors took part in the competition. They competed in electric and combustion-powered car categories.

10-year-old Kuba Różycki from Bolesławiec can celebrate a great success. The young Bolesławiec resident won in the IC–10 class. Kuba came close to not competing at all in the Jelcz races. During Saturday’s practice session before the competition, both of the boy’s car models broke down.

The young competitor’s father came to his rescue. Kuba’s dad drove several hundred kilometres to Munzig, Germany, where he managed to obtain the necessary parts. He returned in time for the start of Sunday’s competition.

The dedication of Kuba’s father and coach paid off. The boy started the race, but that was not the end of his problems. In the 17th minute of the race, the car broke down again. Fortunately, it was repaired. Kuba ultimately finished the race in first place, defeating, among others, Krzysztof Śmidecki from Ruda Śląska and Jakub Żerdzicki from Wrocław.

Kuba Różycki has been taking part in model car races for a year and a half. He regularly competes at Race-Center-Munzig in Germany, where he is achieving increasingly higher positions.
