Komenda Powiatowa Policji w Bolesławcu has addressed questions from our portal concerning residents’ reports of nighttime displays by drivers in the area of Zgorzelecka and Wesoła streets and car parks near commercial facilities.

Let us recall that after our article was published, a Reader argued that dangerous driver behavior occurs in this part of the city almost every day, and that residents have been reporting the problem to the services for years. Therefore, we contacted Komenda Powiatowa Policji w Bolesławcu with questions concerning interventions and activities carried out in the area.

Sub-Inspector Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of Komenda Powiatowa Policji w Bolesławcu:

(...) I inform you that since July 1 of this year, no reports concerning disturbances of public order or road-traffic incidents related to illegal races or other manifestations of dangerous driving have been recorded in the area of the indicated streets.

She added:

Since the beginning of July, officers of Komenda Powiatowa Policji w Bolesławcu have conducted more than 1,150 vehicle inspections throughout the county. In the indicated area, police officers conducted 14 road checks. The irregularities identified included driving a vehicle without the required authorization and defective lighting. Officers issued warnings or submitted applications for punishment to the court.

She also assured:

Police officers are carrying out preventive activities focused on detecting dangerous behavior by road users.

It is worth recalling that just a few days ago, officers from Bolesławiec reported two cases involving drivers who deliberately put their cars into a skid on the city’s streets. In one of them, a 36-year-old resident of Bolesławiec lost his driving licence for three months and will face court proceedings. Previously, a 19-year-old resident of Warta Bolesławiecka commune had also committed similar offences; he was fined, received penalty points and lost his driving authorization for three months.

The police emphasize that activities aimed at eliminating dangerous behavior on the roads are conducted on an ongoing basis. Officers also remind people that public roads are not places for organizing races or performing risky maneuvers that endanger the safety of other road users.
