The school sports field belonging to the Order of Piarist Fathers was usually used during the Ceramic Festival for setting up the fireworks that concluded the Ceramic Days. The Piarists were probably aware that the city might need their site during the festival. When they decided to rent it to an amusement park after all, they did not ask anyone whether this would conflict with the city event and the other amusement park.

When the ride owners set up their equipment on the Piarist sports field, in accordance with the paid agreement, it turned out that there was a problem after all. The other amusement park, located on Popiełuszki Square, was apparently not supposed to have any competition. It had won an official tender and paid the city for exclusivity. It turned out that director Adam Langhammer had set a trap for the city. Surprisingly, the secretary at the Piarist school is Bolesławiec councilor Łukasz Molak, who has access to city documents and should know how the largest festival in Bolesławiec is organized.

When the director realized what he had done, he terminated the agreement with his amusement park. Notices reading “Private property, entry prohibited” were hung around the school fence. The director demanded that the owners of the funfair immediately leave the site belonging to the Piarists. The only problem is that the owners have no intention of doing so. They say they will leave on Monday. Reportedly, the Municipal Police will block access to this “Piarist” amusement park.

Let us add that in 2012, pursuant to a resolution of the city council, the municipal authorities handed over to the Piarists—without a tender—for 30 years the building of the former school, the gymnasium and the sports field on Bankowa Street for use. The Order pays PLN 1,000 per month for this.

The matter may end up in court.
