After securing a historic promotion, the club from Wykroty began efforts to have its pitch approved for the competition. Piast players and supporters took care of renovating the playing surface on their own. They installed covered benches for substitutes and additional seating for supporters. We already wrote about the team wanting to play at home and for its supporters in our report on Piast’s promotion.
It is worth noting that Piast Wykroty is not a team built entirely or mostly around players from other clubs—the so-called “mercenary army.” Of course, recruited players will also play for the team, but the squad for the fourth division includes as many as 12 club academy graduates. Below we present the squad that will begin its league campaign this Saturday. In parentheses next to the players’ names, the letter “w” marks Piast Wykroty academy graduates.
Piast Wykroty squad for the fourth division—the 2016/2017 season:
Marcin Łojko, Sylwester Kret (w), Piotr Krawczyk (w), Rafał Prażmowski (w), Andre Luis, Grzegorz Roman—coach (w), Daniel Ziółkowski, Adam Turko (w), Szymon Drozd (w), Daniel Gola (w), Mieczysław Chochel (w), Leonardo Oliveira, Paweł Urbaniak (w), Grzegorz Staniów (w), Bartosz Kojder, Bartłomiej Mielnik (w), Gabriel Wolski (w).
With this squad, Piast Wykroty will begin its fourth-division campaign against Lotnik Jeżów Sudecki. The match will be played in Wykroty, on August 13, starting at 5:00 p.m.. We also appeal to you to join the blood donation campaign for Piast president Janusz Kret. Details are available on Piast Wykroty’s Facebook profile.
