The information about changes in the regional league and A-class was confirmed by Kamil Wieliczko, Director of the Jelenia Góra Subdistrict of DZPN.

Piast Wykroty decided to withdraw its team from the regional league competition. This was influenced both by the departure of Piast coach Grzegorz Roman (who will coach a youth team at Łużyce Lubań) and by the departures of Piast Wykroty players, resulting in squad problems. In Piast’s place, Górnik Węgliniec will play in the regional league, while Jaśnica Opolno Zdrój will take Węgliniec’s place in Group III of the A-class.

Górnik Węgliniec were promoted to Piast Wykroty’s place from second position in the Group III A-class table (Chrobry Nowogrodziec secured promotion from first place).

We asked the promoted team’s coach from Węgliniec for a comment. He recently began his coaching work with the team, replacing Tomasz Komarzyniec, and can already celebrate promotion with his players. However, he does not hide the fact that a difficult task awaits them.

Górnik Węgliniec coach Paweł Rissmann:

Well, what can I say? It is a shame that Górnik’s promotion came at the expense of the team I played for for three seasons, a team respected in the region for its style of play, but that is how it sometimes is in football. Teams have withdrawn and started from zero, Zawisza Bydgoszcz, for example. I congratulate my boys on their promotion. They deserved it because, having earned 75 points and scored more than 140 goals, they should have achieved it, but in the unfinished previous season Chrobry were just slightly better in the table. However, following Piast’s management’s decision, we are in Class O and face a tough battle for every point, especially since the current season will be stronger in sporting terms and stronger teams will take part. We will do everything we can to ensure our survival. I have to look at our goal calmly and realistically! I wish that for myself and my players, as well as Górnik’s fans.
