For the second day, sappers from the 23rd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Patrol in Bolesławiec have been clearing a dangerous stockpile. State Forest employees notified the sappers about the unexploded ordnance near Trzebień. So far, more than 250 items have been found.
This is Soviet ammunition from the period when these troops were stationed in the Trzebień area. The items include artillery and anti-aircraft shells. “This is not the end of the operation yet,” senior warrant officer Radosław Mazur, the patrol commander, told the Istotne.pl portal. The sappers are finding more shells in the ground. The operation will end once the area has been cleared.
WARNING!
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Patrol warns: if we find an object that looks like unexploded ordnance or a dud, under no circumstances should we touch it. We should remember where it is and report it to the police or a forester.
