When you meet a mother from Bolesławiec and a father from Szprotawa, an uninformed person would readily entrust their son to their care. The court is inclined to do the same and, until the divorce case is concluded, ordered the child to stay with his mother, while allowing the father to see the child for five hours every week, on Saturdays from 12:00 to 17:00. The court's decision does not satisfy the father, who would like to take custody rights over his son away from the mother. The man believes that his wife takes poor care of the child. He recalls that the mother and grandmother looked after the two-year-old while under the influence of alcohol.
The mother, in turn, does not allow the father to see his son. Every time the father came to Bolesławiec to spend time with the child, he was left standing at the door. Why? He has a court order, after all. Despite this, the mother refused to hand over the child, claiming that she feared for the child's health and safety. Each time, the father called the police, who recorded the fact that the child had not been handed over, checked the conditions in which the youngster lived and described them as very good. Writing a report ended the visit. And so it continued until the following Saturday, when the story repeated itself. The father would ring the intercom and say that he had come to visit his son; the mother would tell him to leave because she was afraid to hand the child over to him. The father called the police, another report was made—and this happened thirteen times. These are the bare facts.
The mother does not speak to the media. We met with her and talked about the case. Her story seems just as credible as the father's. The woman spoke about her situation clearly and without difficulty. During our conversation, the two-year-old happily ran around the house and brought his toys to show them to the guests. He is a cheerful, well-cared-for, wonderful child. Will he have the chance, after his parents' divorce, to have the same contact with his mother as with his father? We do not know; we can only wait and see how the adults deal with their relationship.
The father, Krzysztof Grabski, spoke in front of our camera. It is worth hearing his story; it is sincere and moving.
