On Thursday, July 28, a press conference was held at the headquarters of the Bolesławiec County Office, attended by the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Cezary Przybylski, head of DSDiK Leszek Loch, Bolesławiec County Head Dariusz Kwaśniewski, chairman of the Bolesławiec County Council Karol Stasik, Mayor of Bolesławiec Piotr Roman, deputy head of Bolesławiec Gmina Roman Jaworski, and Skanska representative Witold Nietubyć. Its subject was the Bolesławiec bypass.

Cezary Przybylski: “The concept was born in 2006, when Mr Karol Stasik was director of the Infrastructure Department at the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. This is an absolutely necessary investment. The project will cost PLN 27 million, and the bypass will be 4 km long. The completion date is June 2019. In three years, we should already be driving on this bypass.”

Dariusz Kwaśniewski: “Bolesławiec is the heart of the county, and of our region and Lower Silesia. We, local-government officials, have waited a long time for this moment. We dreamed of this bypass. We are smiling a little to ourselves because we are starting with the third stage, while we dream of the second, the section from the roundabout in Łąka to the Kruszyn roundabout. But I am convinced that representatives of our local authorities will work to ensure that all stages of this project are completed.”

Karol Stasik: “This is a good beginning. Road 297 is an ancient route connecting Scandinavia with the Czech Republic and southern Europe. Common sense always prevails, and I believe that after great difficulties and hardships we will also see the second stage completed: Golnice–Kruszyn roundabout. When we look at the map, there is no doubt that only strange twists of fate have prevented Bolesławiec from being a city of regional importance; its location makes it destined for that role. And this 297–A4 junction is something that will ensure Bolesławiec’s development.”

Piotr Roman: “Ten years of efforts have produced a result that is the joint work of the people sitting here and many who are absent. What does this mean for the city? It is another step toward completing the transport network. Several thousand cars enter Bolesławiec every day; we estimate that once this project is completed, several thousand cars will no longer enter the city centre but will go around Bolesławiec, and combating low emissions is a priority. What is more, construction of the A4 motorway between Krzyżowa and Jędrzychowice has significantly increased investment opportunities in Bolesławiec, resulting in 10 new companies in the zone and unemployment of approximately 3.6 per cent. This bypass will provide another such boost.”

Roman Jaworski: “I was directly involved in developing the concept for this project. This agreement shows how important this road is for our region and for the whole of Poland. Road 297 is also of enormous importance to Bolesławiec Gmina. I extend my sincere thanks to the Marshal and the entire board, Director Leszek Loch, and Karol Stasik.”

The agreement to build the Bolesławiec bypass was signed by Cezary Przybylski, Leszek Loch, and Witold Nietubyć. We will certainly return to this subject.
